BEIJING (Reuters) - A Chinese woman's 64-year-old headache has ended after doctors removed a bullet that relatives said lodged in her skull when Japanese soldiers shot her during World War Two, state media reported on Monday.Related post: news, yahoo, bullet, odd, china
Jin Guangying, now 77, lost consciousness after a Japanese patrol in Jiangsu province fired on her in 1943 as she went to meet her grandfather, a guerrilla fighter, the Beijing News said.
"When she came to, her head was wrapped in a bandage and she never realized there was a bullet lodged deep in her head," the paper said.
Later, she would regularly have headaches, foam at the mouth and "talk nonsense... like she had gone mad," the paper said.
Jin's family had thought her symptoms were due to a tumor, the paper said, quoting Wang Zhengping, the woman's daughter.
"Because our family was poor, we were never able to have her taken for a thorough check-up," Wang said.
A military expert in Nanjing, the Jiangsu capital, had identified the bullet as one used by Japanese soldiers at that time, the newspaper said.
Jin's relatives planned to seek redress for her more than 60 years of suffering.
"As her children, we will soon go to Nanjing to consult with relevant experts as to how to seek compensation from the Japanese government, and will definitely be seeking a public apology," the paper quoted Wang as saying.
A convicted fraudster escaped from a high security jail in Germany after climbing into a cardboard box and posting himself to freedom.
Max Friedener, 28, escaped from prison in Darmstadt after hiding in the box in the mailroom. He escaped from the mail van as it was driving away.
The escape was only noticed when the mail truck arrived at the sorting depot and the hole in the box was spotted.
It is the second time a convict has earned a ticket to ride by using the mail system.
Only last month a convict in neighbouring Austria escaped from Graz prison by posting himself out in a large box that was supposed to contain lamp post parts. Both escapees are still at large.
A man trying to kill his girlfriend by stopping a car in front of an approaching train was himself killed Monday when the train hit the vehicle and launched it into him as he tried to flee, police said.Related post: news, crime, train, accident, odd
The girlfriend survived.
The man drove the car in front of a group of other vehicles stopped at a railroad crossing in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Sunland, Officer Mike Lopez said.
The driver, who was seen arguing with his girlfriend, parked the car on the tracks and jumped out, leaving her behind, Lopez said.
A northbound commuter train hit the rear of the car, hurling it into the man. The girlfriend was taken to the hospital, where she was in stable condition, Lopez said.
"She gets hit by a train and lives. He gets hit by his own car and he dies," Lopez said. [more]

The horn curves downward and looks like the stalk of a pumpkin, reports the Yangcheng Evening Post.
Granny Zhao, 95, of Zhanjiang city, Guangdong province, says it first appeared three years ago.
"At first, it was only a mole, but it gradually grew and became like a horn," she said.
Zhao says the horn causes her little trouble except to affect her vision slightly: "It causes me no discomfort, but blocks part of my view."
But her family are hoping that medical experts can explain the phenomenon.

A councillor said: “We’re against masts, now we don’t need one.”

MERRILL, Wis. - Mark Krombholz had to look twice at his new calf, Lucy — one time for each nose. "I didn't notice anything too different about her until I got her in the barn," Krombholz said, "and all of a sudden I went to feed her a bottle of milk, and I thought maybe she'd been kicked in the nose and there were two noses there."
The second, smaller nose sits on top of the first.
"It's a functioning nose because the middle of her second nose, the flap would go in and out when she drank out of the bottle like that," Krombholz said. "It was kind of funny."
Breeder Scott Grund said Lucy's noses seem to be working fine.
"It looked like she was comfortable laying there in her bedding and breathing and spunky just like you want to see," Grund said. "It's just that she's got two noses."
That kind of rare deformity is usually not the result of genetics, he said. But breeders do track such mutations.
"We'll fill out a form, send that on to the company in Shawano and they will keep record of it," Grund said. "If by chance this would occur more than a few times, they would start looking at maybe the sire that we're using."
Krombholz said Lucy, who was born May 4, will be a pet and bred if she's able.
TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- Prosecutors issued arrest warrants Tuesday for eight former prison employees accused of abusing inmates, including forcing some to clean toilets with their tongues.Related post: news, inmates, prison, crime, toilet
The eight were among 13 prison employees who had already been fired from the 605-inmate medium and minimum security wards at the Hendry Correctional Institution in the Everglades.
The previous warden and an assistant warden resigned, and three others were reassigned after an inmate was beaten and choked by guards in March.
State prisons chief Jim McDonough said the warrants include charges of battery and failing to report inmate abuse against former guards William Thiessen, Phillip Barger and Randy Hazen, Gabriel Cotilla, Kevin Filipowicz, Ruben Ibarra and Stephen Whitney. Fired guard James Brown was charged with grand theft.
Some inmates were given choices of eating their food off the floor or providing sexual favors to guards, McDonough said.
"We had cases where inmates were compelled under threat of force to clean a commode with their tongues," McDonough said. "These were improper, illegal heinous and despicable acts and it was done apparently in an organized and conspiratorial fashion."
McDonough said the FBI and the U.S. attorney were also looking into civil rights violations.
None of the eight men could immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
Thiessen, Barger, Hazen and Whitney's phone numbers were unlisted. Nobody answered at a number under Ibarra's name. A number listed under Cotilla's name was connected to a fax machine, and there was not enough information to locate a number for Brown, who has a common name.
It was not known Tuesday whether any of the men had hired attorneys.
PETALING JAYA: Akibat tidak dapat menahan nafsu, seorang pengawal keselamatan menceroboh masuk sebuah asrama sebelum meraba seorang pelajar perempuan yang sedang lena tidur.Related post: berita, metro, cabul, rogol, lucah

Investigators said they confronted the young suspects, who both admitted to their involvement.
They face a felony charge of one count of poisoning of food or water with intent to injure or cause bodily harm.

The 23-year-old, from Winona, Minnesota, was stabbed repeatedly early on Saturday morning, but was unable to identify his assailants to police because he was snoozing at the time.
The Winona Daily News reports that the man, who wasn't identified, only realized that he'd been stabbed nine times when his girlfriend noticed that he was covered in blood and pointed this out.
Reports do not indicate whether the girlfriend was also sleeping during the attack.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and the man remains in hospital. Probably asleep.
