"LONDON: Pengguna internet di seluruh dunia diingatkan berwaspada berikutan ancaman serangan 'kemuncak' virus secara besar-besaran pada Isnin depan yang turut disifatkan hari paling buruk bagi serangan virus seumpamanya.
Akhbar The Guardian melaporkan semalam, amaran oleh pakar keselamatan komputer itu dibuat berdasarkan analisis maklumat mengenai virus dan cecacing internet merangkumi lebih 500,000 komputer di seluruh dunia.
Selain amaran peningkatan ancaman dan serangan virus pada November dan Disember, pakar keselamatan komputer juga mengingatkan ancaman lain.
Ini disebabkan pengiklan dan penyangak sudah cuba menggunakan populariti bakal Presiden Amerika, Barack Obama sebagai muslihat memperdaya pengguna memuat turun virus.
Berikutan itu, pakar keselamatan daripada syarikat PC Tools menyifatkan tarikh 24 November sebagai berkemungkinan menjadi hari kemuncak serangan dan kemuncak kegiatan virus bagi 2008.

"LONDON: Satu kajian terbaru menyatakan kesukaran wanita terutama golongan isteri mengawal berat badan dan mengelak gemuk bukan disebabkan amalan pemakanan atau kurang senaman, sebaliknya berpunca daripada rasa bahagia dan selesa disamping pasangan.
Pakar pemakanan dan saintis berkata, hasil kajian mendapati turun naik berat badan seseorang wanita bergantung kepada sejauh mana kegembiraan dan kebahagiaan yang dinikmatinya.
'Pada peringkat awal hubungan, wanita biasanya melakukan amalan pemakanan ketat demi menjaga penampilan dan ketika ini berat badan turun secara purata 2.2 kilogram sebulan.'"
"Bagaimanapun, keadaan berubah apabila wanita mula berasa selesa dengan pasangannya. Rancangan perkahwinan yang menjadikan wanita gembira akan menyebabkan berat badan bertambah, sebelum berkurangan semula selepas bayi dilahirkan," kata seorang daripada penyelidik.

"Emosi wanita mempunyai kesan yang amat besar terhadap kesihatan dan berat badan," kata Jane McCadden dari firma berkenaan yang dipetik sebuah akhbar tempatan.
Beliau berkata, tempoh hayat seseorang wanita menyaksikan berat badan mereka turun naik mengikut fasa baru dalam kehidupan, percintaan dan status keluarga.
"Kajian kami juga berjaya menjelaskan betapa sukarnya untuk wanita mengekalkan berat badan sepanjang hayat mereka. Walaupun ada masanya mereka berjaya mengurangkannya, tabiat pemakanan yang buruk akan berulang dan mereka kembali berdepan masalah itu," katanya.
Beliau berkata, kajian menunjukkan bahawa separuh daripada responden bersetuju bahawa berat badan mereka bergantung kepada sejauh mana kegembiraan yang dialami. � Agensi

PUTRAJAYA: A new rebate system will be introduced next year to replace the present cash rebate given to eligible vehicle owners.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad said the government would have to think of other forms of rebates to be given to the public since they were not too happy with the present system.
“This is the feedback that we received. There are those who are satisfied with the rebate system introduced since June but many are not happy with it.
“We have yet to decide on the new system. We are still in the midst of discussing, toying with ideas and suggestions before deciding on anything,” he said at a press conference on Saturday.
When the government increased fuel prices in June, it also announced that private vehicles with engine capacity of up to 2,000 cc as well as pick up trucks and jeeps with engine capacity of 2,500 cc would be given a rebate of RM625 a year per vehicle.
It also announced that owners of motorcycles with engine capacity pf 250cc would be given rebate of RM150 per motorcycle a year, effective from April 1 till March 31, 2009.
Shahrir said between April and September, the government had paid out a handsome RM2.5bil in rebate payments. He added that it had five months to plan a new system that would be more favourable among the people.
On another matter, the minister said that the floor price for petrol in the country should not be lesser than RM1.92 per litre, where pump prices were “reasonable without having to be subsidised”.
He said the price could be achieved if world crude oil prices were between US$65 and US$70 per barrel, adding that last month’s average price was at US76.44 per barrel.
“The RM1.92 per litre price at pumps is merely my view. I believe that we should try as best as possible to reduce or even stop forking out money for fuel subsidy and use it for development and economic purposes.
“Despite a decline in global fuel price, the amount of subsidy the government has to fork out is still substantial. I also believe that if the price is any lower than what I have mentioned, the public will not practice wise spending because an essential item is cheap,” he said.
Shahrir said that when the government announced petrol price of RM2.70 per litre in June, the amount of subsidy spent on fuel alone was RM1.97bil while July and August saw a decline in subsidy payment of RM1.95bil and RM1.42bil respectively.
Effective Saturday, fuel is 15 sen cheaper, with RON97 at RM2.15 per litre from RM2.30. Both RON92 and diesel are now RM2.05 a litre from the previous RM2.20.
